New Cleaner Diesel Fuel in Our Future

February 23, 2016– Scientists from KU Leuven and Utrecht University made an industry altering discovery in a new approach to creating a cleaner diesel fuel.  Studying the effects of catalysts used to trigger chemical reactions in fuel production, scientists discovered that the industry model that the molecules of the two-part catalyst should be as close together as possible was incorrect.  According to their study, a minimum amount of space between molecules produces cleaner molecules at a higher yield rate.  Their new method can be easily scaled to industrial use and we could start seeing new cleaner diesel fuel in 5 to 10 years.
